Last week of September

Our Viking Family
This past week was packed full of fun.  Sean was home most of the week so we took advantage of it by having some fun. On Wednesday we went to the Norsk Hostfest which is a celebration of the cultures that settled this area which were mainly Scandinavian.  There were lots of shops that showcased the crafts, pastry, chocolate & clothing from the region.  Along with several areas that were full of food that originates back to the region.  The kids favorite part was when we dressed up as Vikings.  They got to see lots of trolls, painted horses and a elf.  It is amazing to think that people from all over the world are here for this festival.  We got to see a man make a fan bird it was amazing to see a piece of wood go from a block to this:

Then on Thursday Sean took Ash fishing in the morning and then we went as a family that evening.  They caught 4 Northern Pike but right now they are catch and release.  They were good size fish though.  Ash was holding the line for the first one and Stew was holding the line on the last one. The kids are loving the fishing they run around and play with sticks but they still enjoy it.  I got to sit and just enjoy being outside.  We have only one pole so we will have to remedy that soon.  It reminded me of the days I used to go fishing with my grandparents, except we were on a boat and here we are on the shore.

This fish broke the line and took the lure with it.
Since we were out by the base we got to watch B52 take off and fly around they were so close.  I didn't get my camera out though until it was farther away.  At one point it flew a couple hundred feet over our car.  What a sight.
B52 -- although this picture doesn't do it justice.
